I WAS absolutely thrilled to see swathes of shocking pink and magenta Red Valerian and also a lovely large yellow ‘Compositae’ (Daisy family) species doing really well in a corner wild garden at the foot of Harp Hill.

A couple of years ago I was privileged to witness a stunning Hummingbird Hawkmoth here, feeding through its long proboscis on the Valerian flower-heads - this mainly day-flying species is very well-named.
