Six months in: Reflections on ownership
Financial Standard
|August 25, 2025
It's been about six months now since Strategic Wealth has been fully under new leadership. For context, I've been a shareholder in the business for a few years, alongside the four other partners.
Two of those partners lead the business as directors and while the final decisions often sit with them, we're all actively involved in shaping the thinking and direction alongside them.
We've all worked together for years, and the trust we've built is the reason this works.
The foundation we stepped into was solid. That didn't happen by accident. There's been a lot of care, consistency and thoughtful leadership over many years to get us to this point.
We're incredibly lucky to take on something worth continuing and worth evolving. Still, stepping into this next chapter hit differently. It felt like the guardrails had come off. We weren't just continuing what had been built. We were now responsible for where it goes next. There's a lot of pride in that. And there's pressure too, but the kind that energises you.
A mindset shift
What's changed most for me over the past six months is my mindset. I've always treated the business like I owned part of it and that's held me in good stead.
