Rupee posts biggest single-day advance in six weeks

THE RUPEE POSTED its strongest single-day gain in six weeks on Monday, climbing 47 paise to 91.51 against the dollar.
The likelyintervention from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and some foreign funds inflow helped the currency rise.The sentiment was also aided by the sharp decline in crude oil prices.
The RBI sold aggressively in the non-deliverable forward (NDF) market before opening of the trade to ease the pressure from the Budget, dealers said. The currency opened at 91.80 and moved in the range of 91.44-91.83.The intervention likely continued throughout the day to support the currency, they said.
