HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION IN the first 10 months of this fiscal fell 8.5% on year to 7,000 km.

However, the annual target, which was a modest one, may still be met.
The government has set a provisional target of constructing 10,421 km national highways this financial year, which is 15% lower than last year's achievement due to the election process delaying state clearances and a prolonged monsoon in 2024.
