TATA DIGITAL-RUN BIGBASKET has nearly completed its transition to a unified quick commerce model, marking a shift away from its earlier dual-store strategy that separated slotted and 10-20-minute deliveries, according to Seshu Kumar Tirumala, chief buying and merchandising officer.

The platform now operates over 700 mid-sized dark stores and plans to reach 800 by the end of the year. These mid-sized stores, spanning 5,000-6,000 sq ft and housing up to 30,000 items, represent a major operational shift from the company's earlier bifurcated approach that maintained both smaller quick commerce stores (housing 10,000-15,000 items) and larger stores for slotted delivery (stocking over 30,000 items).

"Last year around Diwali,we decided to focus on quick commerce and integrate both slotted and quick delivery operationally," Tirumala said. The supply chain was simplified to ensure that every item ordered by a customer would be serviced from the same store location.
