VIETNAMESE carmaker VinFast's first two models in India—the VF 6 and VF 7—will be premium electric SUVs, and will compete with Mahindra's BE 6 and XEV 9e, and Tata's Curvv EV and Harrier EV.

- VIKRAM CHAUDHARY

Sharing their technical specifications, Pham Sanh Chau, CEO, VinFast Asia, said that the VF 6 has a 59.6-kWh battery and its motor produces 150 kW power, and the VF 7 has a 70.8-kWh battery and its motor produces 260 kW power. "Their driving range, however, will be announced at the official launch," Chau told FE.

The BE 6 and XEV 9e are available in 59-kWh and 79-kWh battery options, producing power of up to 210 kW, and claimed driving range of more than 600 km (79 kWh). Ex-showroom prices of the BE 6 start at ₹18.9 lakh, going up to ₹26.9 lakh, and those of the XEV 9e are ₹21.9-30.5 lakh.
