THE local elections, which took place in May, marked a significant shift, not just here in Devon, but right across the country.
For us locally, the change has been particularly pronounced. The Liberal Democrats, which have controlled East Devon District Council since 2019, have now taken charge of Devon County Council as well.
After many years of Conservative leadership at the County Hall, the Lib Dems now lead both tiers of local government across much of Devon.
Voters across Devon have made it clear they wanted something different. We must take a moment to reflect on this significant shift.
While every election is different, one theme cuts through clearly: people want results. They want better roads, more reliable local services and answers to the day-to-day frustrations they face.
