A CARE home in Tiverton will close after being put under ‘special measures’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The Larches was found by CQC to have “serious and widespread safety concerns” during an inspection which took place in April.

The home, run by Anne Gray Care Ltd, is a residential care home for up to 20 older people, including people with dementia and disabilities.

Inspectors found that the service only provided one shower room, which wasn’t clean or comfortable for people to wash in. This meant some people were reluctant to use it, making it difficult for staff to maintain their appearance and dignity.

It was also found that staff didn’t feel safe raising concerns and said they thought they would be blamed or treated negatively if they did. This meant safety incidents may not have been reported and people may have remained at risk.
