As the COP30 climate summit continues this week in Belém, Brazil, the world stands at a critical crossroads.
The fossil fuel age is beginning to wind down, but unless wealthier nations take full responsibility for funding this transition, the poorest countries, who are least responsible for the crisis, risk being left with the worst of the environmental and economic consequences.
That is not just an ecological warning, it is a profound moral one. This summit should be a turning point, delivering a radical shift in global climate finance, technology sharing and debt-free support for countries facing disproportionate impacts, but the early signs are not good.
