More than 120 pupils representing eight schools in Dumfries will help pay tribute to national bard Robert Burns this afternoon at a service in St Michael's and South Church-where he and his family worshipped.

Dumfries and Galloway Burns Association has organised the annual commeration to mark Burn's birthday and the church service starts at 1.30pm, conducted by the group's president, Rev Graham Finch.

After the service there will a wreath laying ceremony at the Burns Mausoleum, where many will laya wreath, piped by Callum Watson.

Fiona Evans, secretary of D&GBA said that the hour-long annual commemorative service wil include prayers, hymns, songs, poems, and readings-mostly by the schoolchildren.
