Council gives the green light to next phase of protection work on Deal Pier

A SECOND phase of key works to Deal Pier has been given the go-ahead by Dover District Council, as part of a major programme of investment to protect it for future generations.

The next phase will include planning and design work, and a tendering process for the repairs, with concrete repairs to the pier legs due to take place next spring and summer.

This follows a £140,000 programme of works to beams and steps on the lower deck last autumn and winter, which in turn followed a full structural survey earlier last year.
