PLAY-OFF VETERAN WALKER SAYS GAME MANAGEMENT IS KEY TO SUCCESS
-
MITCH Walker entered his fourth play-offs as a Dover Athletic player this week and the goalkeeper believes the secret to success is game management and sticking to your plan.
Walker was the Whites number one when they lost 3-2 to Salisbury City in the Blue Square Bet South play-off final on Sunday, May 12, 2013.
But a year later, on May 10, 2014, Dover beat Ebbsfleet United 1-0 to win the same play-off competition, again with Walker between the sticks.
And after just two seasons in non-league football's top tier, the Whites found themselves in the play-offs again in 2016, this time with a place in the Football League at stake. Walker missed the first leg of the play-off semi-final, during which Forest Green Rovers took a 1-0 lead. He returned in the second leg as Dover drew 1-1 with Rovers, losing 2-1 on aggregate.
Now, nearly ten years later, Walker is looking forward to the play-offs once again with Dover after the Whites beat Chichester City 3-1 on Saturday to secure fifth spot in the Isthmian League Premier Division.
