THE team behind an award-winning Derbyshire pub is the “beating heart” of the community once again after having life “breathed back into it” following its takeover more than a year ago.

Takeover spurs rural pub to raise dishes to next level

Those are the words of Dawn-Elizabeth Rudd from The Beagrie Group, a family-run chain that looks after a number of venues across the Peak District, including the rural Prince of Wales in Baslow.

With Bakewell in one direction and the ever-beautiful Chatsworth Estate in another, the country pub finds itself in a particularly bustling corner of the national park, often attracting walkers and cyclists, as well as crowds from surrounding towns and cities.

Visitors have a wide-ranging menu to sample at the Church Street venue, with dishes ranging from English classics with a modern twist, such as the Cornish plaice fillet with baby spinach and sea purslane, to Euro-pean dishes such as parmesan gnocchi and pastrami-cured salmon.

But the fine food comes at a fair but high price, with main courses priced between £19 and £26 - with fillet steak topping the menu at £42.
