Roberts blow will send Tykes back to transfer market

BURTON Albion's opponents tomorrow, Barnsley, have been hit by an injury blow to defensive lynchpin Marc Roberts.

Roberts went off with a groin issue shortly before halftime in last weekend's impressive 3-1 away win against Plymouth Argyle and will be missing for at least two months.

Now new manager Conor Hourihane, the former Barnsley, Aston Villa and Derby County midfielder, says he will have to dip into the transfer market for a replacement before the window closes.

It is a significant blow for the Tykes, who were already seeking another back-four option prior to Roberts’ issue.

“Robbo is struggling for the near future. It’s a bit of a disappointing one for him,” said Hourihane

“In terms of time-frame, it's hard to actually pinpoint exactly how long it will be but he will be out of action for the next couple of months, off the back of the diagnosis after the game.
