NOTHING BUT ADMIRATION FOR TEAM WHO HELPED ARRANGE PHYSIOTHERAPY AND SHOPPING HELP

- By SOPHIE BUSCIMESE

A DAD of seven from Chaddesden, who survived a 25-foot fall from a building which left him unlikely to ever walk again, has praised the NHS team who have given him hope for the future.

In 2022, Rob Bell fell from a building in America during his work as a construction engineer, which caused him a fractured skull and seven broken ribs followed by a series of strokes.

The accident left him with the condition functional neurological disorder (FND), which gives Rob life-altering symptoms such as paralysis and occasional blindness.

The dad-of-seven and grandad-of-ten said he did not feel like anyone was listening to the housing and healthcare needs that were important to him.

After months in the hospital, Rob was no longer able to access his toilet due to his wheelchair, leaving him spending £500 a week to take taxis to public toilets.

Through his GP, he was referred to the NHS's Team Up Complex Care Team, run by Primary Healthcare Derby Limited on behalf of Derby and Derbyshire NHS Integrated Care Board.
