Road closures as city gears up for Xmas lights switch-on and festive market

DERBY City Council has released a list of city centre road closures set to be in place ahead of the annual Christmas lights switch-on tonight.

A host of entertainment and festivities will be scattered across the city, with hundreds set to gather before the switch is flicked at 6.30pm.

A stage show presented by Smooth Radio's Darren Parks kicks off at 5pm, before the action starts with a performance by local indie rock/alternative band The Public Eye.

The dragon dancers from DANS Dance Company and Dhol Frequency Drummers and Bollywood Dancers from Surtal Arts will also take to the stage following the Season of Light Lantern Parade.
