Ockbrook halfway to title after 10th win in a row
Derby Telegraph
|July 01, 2025
OCKBROOK & Borrowash have reached the halfway point of the Mazda Derbyshire Premier Division season with a healthy 36-point lead at the top.
-
A solid, if unspectacular, 30-run win at home to Belper Meadows stretched their unbeaten league run to 10 matches.
When they won the toss and batted, they were pegged back by some excellent bowling, particularly from Mehmoon Tariq and Kabeer Imtiaz.
Ethan Debonon and Josh Lacey fell cheaply and while Ethan Berlusconi made 36 from 54 balls, wickets continued to fall at regular intervals.
This season’s star man, Ximus Du Plooy, stuck around for 80 balls for as Tariq took 4-30 from 10 overs and Imtiaz 3-19 from his 10 overs.
Late impetus came from Charlie Birch-Mann with 35 not out from 27 balls to get them to 213 all out from the last ball of their 50 overs.
However, when Belper batted, opener Nicholas Mann found himself fighting a lone battle.
