EMR passengers join first trial of rail's GPS pay-as-you-go tickets

LOCATION-TRACKING TECHNOLOGY WILL AUTOMATICALLY CHARGE TRAIN USERS
DERBYSHIRE rail passengers are to take part in a new pay-as-you-go rail ticketing system trial which tracks passengers' locations as they travel.
The location-tracking digital ticketing trial - the first of its kind in England - starts on East Midlands Railway between Derby, Leicester and Nottingham today. Further tests will take place in Yorkshire from the end of September.
Under the scheme, passengers will be able to check in and out of rail journeys using an app on their phone.
