Amber heat health alert issued across the county as 33C is forecast

A NEW amber heat-health alert has been issued in Derbyshire as temperatures are set to reach 33C in the region.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) previously issued a yellow alert across the southern half of England, but has since upgraded the warnings to amber alerts for four regions, with two more yellow alerts issued for the north of the country.

The health alerts covering the whole of England come into effect at 9am today and remain in place until 6pm tomorrow (August 13).

But in Derbyshire, an amber alert is in place over the next two days.

The South West, Yorkshire and the Humber, North West and North East have yellow warnings in place over the same period.

Amber heat health alerts are issued when hot temperatures could cause significant impacts are possible across health and social care services.
