LOCAL COMMUNITIES SET TO BENEFIT FROM £2M-A-YEAR PRIDE IN PLACE SCHEME

£20m boost for Derby South 'puts power back in hands of local people'

DERBY South is set to receive £20 million in funding across the next decade through a new programme introduced by the Government.

The Pride in Place programme is set to provide £2 million a year for local communities to help improve neighbourhoods and give local people more control over how their area changes.

The funding is part of a £5 billion national programme launched by the Prime Minister to help communities revive the places they live, work and spend time in.

It is designed to allow residents to shape decisions locally rather than imposed from the top down.

In Derby South, the money could be used to support priorities such as safer streets, stronger high streets, better parks and public spaces, support for young people, and bringing new life to community assets such as pubs, leisure centres and community halls.
