N2 GATEWAY residents are reeling in shock after a 19-year-old teen was shot and killed and his 56-year-old mother wounded inside their house during a robbery on Sunday night.

- BY MARSHA DEAN

The incident took place at 8.50pm at what is believed to be the home of a taxi owner.

It is alleged that the father was pulling into the driveway at his home in Drakensberg Street when two unidentified armed gunmen attacked.

The suspects demanded a firearm and belongings from the family.

The son was shot in the head and the mother was transported to hospital for treatment. The suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk confirmed the shooting and said that Delft police are investigating a case of murder and a case of attempted murder.
