One candidate who deserves a closer look is Stellenbosch FC’s Steve Barker, the longest-serving coach in the Premiership, and the man who knocked Chiefs out of the Carling Knockout at the weekend.

With a lekker understanding of South African football, Barker has been in charge at Stellenbosch since 2017.
