Emotional Emma battles on despite off-court worry
EMMA RADUCANU overcame blustery conditions and her back issue to seal an emotional comeback victory at Eastbourne.
Cheered on by her coach Mark Petchey and British No.5 Fran Jones, the world No.38 teared up after she had beaten Ann Li 6-7 6-3 6-1.
Raducanu later said: “I received some pretty bad news, so I would like to keep it personal.
“But it was difficult and very emotional at the end and probably just a release of different emotions.
“I was at Fran's match in Madrid and we like to be there for each other.
“She's a close friend of mine, so she kind of knew what was going on behind the scenes.
“To have her support there on a day like today meant so much to me.”
