FROM murders and untimely deaths to general mayhem, British soaps never disappoint.
For decades we have loved our TV soap operas, which show the very best - and worst - of all of humanity.
This honesty and raw emotion means soaps will never die, according to one expert.
Sharon Marshall, better known as the resident Soap Queen on ITV's This Morning, believes that is why they need to be preserved at all costs. She says: "A lot has changed in the last few decades in this country, but one thing that remains the same is our love of soaps.
"And I think it comes down to connection and relatability.
"It is nostalgia. All the family can watch and everyone can relate.
"It is escapism, it is nostalgia, and it is a part of the day where you get to escape your ordinary lives and check in with others. And it is for this reason that I think the soap will never die.
"Yes we are seeing more AI, and actually with soaps it has allowed us to watch these massive Hollywood-style episodes now, but that is not why people tune in week in and week out - far from it.
"It is because of our relationships with the characters. They are like extended family. We have grown up knowing them and we genuinely care about the characters.
