Royal Mint tribute to Queen legend Freddie

FREDDIE Mercury is being honoured with a new Royal Mint coin, which his sister says would have “meant the world” to him.

The coin shows an image of the Queen frontman mid-performance and carries his signature.

Freddie's four-octave vocal range is represented by a musical stave and the studded edge design is inspired by the leather armband he wore at Live Aid.

Some editions of the coin also feature colour, bringing his famous yellow jacket to life.

The release comes in the 40th anniversary years of both Live Aid and Freddie's solo studio album Mr Bad Guy.
