GINGERS are on the march, as we reported yesterday, thanks to a legion of celebs choosing the flame-haired look. The copper-coloured hair trend has been favoured by the likes of actress Emma Stone, as well as singers Billie Piper and Raye. And they're channelling some naturally redheaded famous folk through history, as JAMES MOORE reveals...

Winston Churchill: By the time he was prime minister during World War Two the politician didn't have much of a thatch left but, in his youth, Winnie was a redhead. Schoolmates at Harrow even nicknamed the future leader "copper knob".

Henry VIII: The Tudor king had hair that may have matched his fiery temperament. In 1515 the Venetian ambassador described the monarch as having "bright auburn hair combed straight and short, in the French fashion".
