Norrie admits being vocal is focal point of his game

Unleashed on the tennis court, the British No.3 is a snarling dog of war who is ready to bark and bite his way to victory.

And as Carlos Alcaraz will find out on Centre Court today, it doesn’t matter about the reputation of his opponent on the other side of the net.

At the Rome Masters in 2023, Norrie hit Novak Djokovic on the ankle with a smash after the Serbian superstar delayed the start of the match to get medical attention.

And at the Metz Open last November, he infuriated Roberto Carballes Baena with his repeated shouts and fist pumps as he fought to end a four-match losing streak.

In a post-match confrontation, the Spaniard said: “You say, ‘Vamos’ [Come on] all the time in my face.”

Norrie, who has an Argentine coach, also got under the skin of his Chilean opponent Nicolas Jarry on Court No.1 on Sunday night by bouncing the ball endless times between serves and shouting in celebration at the end of points.
