NIKAU'S REGAL RECALL OF CAS' SHOCK SUCCESS

IT HAS been more than 30 years since Castleford’s glorious Regal Trophy final win over star-studded Wigan and Tawera Nikau remembers it like yesterday.

It's no surprise. The brilliant Kiwi loose forward completed some memorable achievements in the sport.

However, none were quite like that day at Headingley when classy Cas romped home 33-2 against an all-conquering Wigan side featuring Jason Robinson, Shaun Edwards, Martin Offiah and Andy Farrell.

Nikau is back in the UK as those 1994 heroes reunite with their captain Lee Crooks (inset) who celebrates a 45-year testimonial in rugby league.

"Two games stand out as the most iconic memories of my career," recalled Nikau.

"Winning the 1999 Grand Final for Melbourne Storm. And that Regal Trophy final with Cas.

"Wigan were a team of internationals and full-time, while we only had two full-time pros.
