WHEN Fabian Schar somehow squeezed home an unlikely equaliser, Mo Salah threw his hands towards the heavens in a moment of despair.

No wonder.

Rarely can a player have produced such an inspired half of football and not finished on the winning side.

On a pulsating night on Tyneside Newcastle fully deserved their point, but this was further evidence of why Liverpool will have to give Salah the big bucks and hand him a year more than they might like.

This is why Salah remains irreplaceable.

One ingenious assist, two nonchalant finishes, one diamond of a player.

But thanks to Newcastle’s tenacity, only one point.

There is little left to say about Salah’s brilliance, other than to repeat the demands of every single Liverpool fan out there.

The Anfield owners simply must find a way of keeping the Egyptian at their club.
