Brave Jota had op for collapsed lung

DIOGO Jota’s physio revealed the Liverpool star had been playing with a collapsed lung in the weeks before his death.

Miguel Goncalves said the striker put off surgery to help his side win the Premier League and to play in Portugal's Nation’s League final.

The forward, 28, saw the medic five hours before his fatal car crash as he travelled to Santander in Spain with his brother Andre, 26, to catch a ferry to England. He had been advised not to fly following the lung surgery.

Miguel said: “I said goodbye to him and his brother, Andre, at 8.30pm.
