A POLICE chief has been shown a red card by Shabana Mahmood over the decision to ban Israeli football fans from a match at Aston Villa.
The Home Secretary said she had lost confidence in the head of West Midlands Police after a “damning” review into the force's call to bar Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters.
She told MPs that findings by the policing watchdog into the force's intelligence gathering showed “confirmation bias”.
But she added that she doesn’t have the power to sack force leader Craig Guildford.
