BOB MacINTYRE thought he had won the US Open.

He could have done had it not been for JJ Spaun's birdie-birdie finish in the Oakmont gloom.

But MacIntyre believes he heads to next month's Open at Royal Portrush ready for his Major moment after being agonisingly denied glory ( time around.
