Cole fails to fire at former home as Pep off the hook

- SIMON MULLOCK

PALM OFF HIS GAME

COLE PALMER has walked on water since leaving Manchester.

But he sunk without trace on his homecoming last night.

There we all were back in 2023 wondering what the heck was going on when Palmer decided to leave Manchester City to join Chelsea.

It was difficult to fathom who had lost the most marbles.

Pep Guardiola for allowing Palmer to join one of his big rivals, or Palmer for wanting to walk out on the most successful team of a generation.

imageBut time has gone on to prove there is no argument to be had.

He hasn’t won much this season, but Guardiola takes the spoils on this occasion.

Because since turning his back on the English champions, Palmer has had more front than Blackpool when it comes to rubbing his former club’s noses in it. With the exception of Liverpool’s Mo Salah, Palmer has been the most exciting footballer in the top flight.

No one saw the astonishing collapse of City coming.
