'Hosing police' on beat

WATER firms have sent out "hosepipe police" to catch customers risking £1,000 fines by breaking bans - and they want folk to dob in their neighbours.

Yorkshire Water, which has imposed restrictions on five million people, said staff will report residents breaking the ban.

And the firm said nosy curtain-twitchers can snitch on neighbours not following the rules.
