Boss can't watch but crisis is over...for now!

- by Simon Mullock

ONLY Jaidon Anthony knows what possessed him to grab a fistful of Amad Diallo’s shirt deep into injury time - but in doing so the Burnley winger dragged Ruben Amorim off the hook.

The Manchester United manager was contemplating another devastating blow in his bid to prove he can turn things around at Old Trafford when VAR Stuart Attwell spotted Anthony pull Diallo back as he attempted to burst on to Kobbie Mainoo’s pass.

And after referee Sam Barrott had decided that the offence was enough to point to the spot after taking a look on the pitchside monitor, up stepped Bruno Fernandes to beat Clarets goalkeeper Martin Dubravka from 12 yards.

Amorim couldn’t bring himself to watch as his captain stepped up to the plate.

Despite being hammered from all sides for hiding in the dugout at Grimsby three days earlier as United crashed out of the Carabao Cup after a penalty shootout of epic proportions, the United boss took a seat on the bench after spending every previous second of the game patrolling his technical area.
