TOLD TO HARNESS SPIRIT OF '90

- BY LEE RYDER

ENGLAND legend Paul Parker has urged the class of 2026 not to blow their chance of immortality this summer.

The Italia 90 star was part of Bobby Robson's Three Lions side who reached the semi-finals of the World Cup before losing on penalties to Germany in Turin.

Parker (right, after the defeat), believes the ‘‘Golden Generation’’ from 2006 would struggle to pack out theatres like the 1990 squad do because they are more remembered for club cliques, the infamous presence of WAGs and petty squabbles during tournaments.

Robson's brave Lions were revered for togetherness, unity and a siege mentality that almost got them to the World Cup Final.

Parker, who will watch the opener against Croatia from the VIP area in Dallas, said: ‘‘Thomas Tuchel (right) is trying to build a group.

‘‘And mentality is important. You don't want conflict, even on a stag do you will get fellas who butt heads!

‘‘They called the 2006 squad the Golden Generation, but all they want to do now is tell stories about falling out with each other.

‘‘I find that embarrassing. They all had the same common goal, but fell out with each other over the clubs they played for!
