Ukrainians praise First Lady for swaying Trump on Putin

UKRAINIANS have hailed Melania Trump as a heroic “undercover agent” after the US president revealed it was she who convinced him to turn on Viadimir Putin.

Following yet another breakdown in US-Russia peace talks, Donald Trump said Melania pointed out the Russian leader's duplicity to him, as they spoke about the Ukraine war.

He recalled of his wife, who was seen with him at the Club World Cup final in New Jersey on Sunday: “I get home, I'd say, ‘First Lady, I had the most wonderful talk with Vladimir.

“I think we're finished.

“And then... she'll say to me one time, 'Well that's strange because they just bombed a nursing home.”

Accusing Putin of walking away from peace deals and attacking civilian targets in Ukraine, Trump added: ‘I'm disappointed in him.”
