EVERYBODY, absolutely everybody, who met or worked with John Stapleton absolutely loved the TV sleuth and presenter.

That's a rare accolade in an often cutthroat trade occasionally marred by monstrous egos.

Yet Stapes was above all else a wonderful bloke.

From the makeup artists who'd powder his nose and camera crews framing his face, to powerful editors and famous costars, Stapes was adored.

And in turn the ultimate professional was encouraging, generous and gracious to all of them, including walk-on players like myself and Tory Boy.
