SAYS CALLUM MCGREGOR

- BY RYAN MCDONALD

TWO goals in his first four games. It's not a bad start for a so-called desperation signing.

And Callum McGregor is convinced the best is yet to come from Celtic's new No.17.

Kelechi Iheanacho's arrival 24 hours after transfer-deadline day summed up a chaotic window for the Hoops.

But after ripping up his contract at Sevilla to answer an SOS from Brendan Rodgers, Iheanacho might well prove to be the real deal.

The early signs are promising. A last-minute penalty winner capped off a dream debut at Kilmarnock - before a super-sub showing in Belgrade got Celts off the mark in the Europa League.

He did draw a blank against Hibs at the weekend but still found the right positions. And skipper McGregor reckons the ex-Man City prodigy could be the perfect fit for the champions.

He said: "Since he's come in, he's obviously scored a couple of goals. But you could see it in training.

"I think the first time I saw him, you know, you can just tell by the way people hit the ball that you think, 'Right, he can play'.

"He's got a big pedigree, he's played at big clubs, and obviously played with the manager at Leicester as well. And you can see he's a good player.

"So, the reason we've got him is because he's probably lacking a bit of game time and getting up to speed.

"The good thing about him is he's come in, his attitude's been amazing. He's working hard. He's part of the group already, feels like he's been here for a while. And he wants to do well.

"So, it's brilliant energy for the group to just feed off as well."
