FRANKENSTEIN' BREEDER'S LET-OFF
ANIMAL welfare watchdogs have slammed a sentence handed out to a notorious “Frankenstein” dog breeder who allowed a tiny pup to die in agony.
Paul Robertson and partner Alexander Myers were convicted of allowing one pup to suffer in agony for weeks due to neglect - meaning it had to be euthanised.
Scottish SPCA investigators found a “horrific” and unlicensed dog fertility clinic being run from Robertson's home, which had more than 30 pups crammed into dreadful conditions.
Myers claimed to be the main person running the enterprise and admitted taking blood from dogs without veterinary qualifications and keeping the dogs in squalor.
Both pled guilty at Edinburgh Sheriff Court to the neglect of one animal - French bulldog Miss Piggy - who had suffered weeks of torture and had to be euthanised by a vet after rescue.
The Record can reveal Paul Robertson was the man behind a breeding programme that resulted in “Frankenstein” hairless French bulldog pups being sold, which was panned by vets.
