Stu and Nicky hope Euro display is big turning point

- BY SCOTT BURNS

STUART ARMSTRONG insists Aberdeen must make their spirited showing against Shakhtar Donetsk the turning point in their season.

The Scottish Cup winners have struggled to get going, their sole win in all competitions coming against Championship club Morton.

The Dons haven't even scored a league goal yet and sit bottom of the Premiership with just a point.

But they opened their Pittodrie scoring account by netting twice in the 3-2 defeat by big-spending Shakhtar in the Conference League on Thursday night.

And as they get set to face Dundee tomorrow, former Scotland midfielder Armstrong said: "The first positive to take was the goals and then the fight we showed.

"We looked dangerous, we had energy and the crowd was behind us.

"Hopefully this is a bit of a turning point because our league form needs to pick up.

"Shakhtar was a different challenge to what we will face this weekend but we have to take the experience forward into that.

"Every game is big but considering our start, it places a greater importance on getting something.

"The positivity of the last quarter hour or so will really help us.
