REST IS HISTORY

JAMES TAVERNIER didn't get the day off he'd been promised.

And Danny Rohl admits there will be no time to rest as Rangers prepare for their big push towards the Premiership finishing line.

Skipper Tavernier wasted no time getting down to work against Queen's Park yesterday as he registered his first career hat-trick and two assists to help get the job done against the Spiders.

But had things gone to plan, the club captain wouldn't have been on the pitch to lead the revenge mission over last year's shock Scottish Cup conquerors.

Gers' German gaffer had planned to allow the 34-year-old veteran to rest his weary legs ahead of a huge week that will see the Light Blues face pivotal Premiership clashes with on-form Motherwell and league leaders Hearts.

But when Max Aarons called in sick, Tavernier was forced to report for duty.

It might not have been ideal preparation for the key doubleheader but there was no harm done as Tavernier went a long way to making amends for last year's Spiders horror show.

And Rohl admits he’s going to need his skipper to dig deep again as the Ibrox men prepare the title race's final sprint.

"If you ask Tav, he will say he can play all the 90 minutes, again and again," grinned the gaffer.

"Normally Max would have started and Tav should get a rest, but then on the morning I got the message from the doc that Max was not available and Tav has to come in.
