Former Scotland star McNaughton urges men to seek help if they need it|Concerns were raised when he went missing after marriage hell
FORMER Scotland and Aberdeen star Kevin McNaughton has told how he was left “suicidal” when he retired from football - as he urged others to speak about their mental health.
McNaughton went missing from his home in 2022, sparking major concerns for his welfare, after his car was stolen amid his marriage break-up.
He took to social media at the time to tell the thief responsible that they had stolen everything he had.
Now, the 42-year-old - who also had spells with Cardiff, Bolton, Wigan, Inverness Caley Thistle and Forfar - is urging men to speak out about their struggles as he revealed how he battled his own demons.
Appearing as a guest on the Under the Cosh podcast, hosted by his former Cardiff teammate, Jon Parkin, he said: “Obviously I had a tough time after football for a spell.
“It's a fishbowl and you're just surrounded by love, even just walking along the street.
