WAVES of drones and missiles hit Kyiv in the largest aerial assault since Russia's invasion of Ukraine began more than three years ago.

It came as alarm grows that Kremlin troops are intensifying their use of deadly chemical weapons in a push to capture more territory.

And US President Donald Trump finally admitted that he had made no progress in peace talks with Vladimir Putin and the Russian president does not want to end the war.

Ukraine's air force said 550 drones and 11 missiles hit overnight and into the early hours of yesterday.
