Townsend takes blame for Scots' woes

UNDER-FIRE Gregor Townsend admits the blame for Scotland stunning collapse should lie with him and not the players.

Scotland allowed Argentina to score five tries in the last 20 minutes to wipe out their 21-0 lead on Sunday. That 33-24 defeat saw the team booed off at full-time as many fans called for the head coach to go.

Former Scotland forward Peter Wright reckons it is time for change and that Glasgow's Franco Smith should be given the top job.

Townsend - under contract until the 2027 World Cup - admits the fans were right to show their frustration on top of last week's defeat to New Zealand.
