Three hours of horrific footage taken in his home shows brute repeatedly beating his Staffie with an iron and throwing dog around

- BY MARK McGIVERN

A BRUTE who battered a puppy 70 times in a three-hour attack was jailed after a sheriff branded him “merciless”.

Daniel Murphy, 43, was caged for nine months after his crimes were caught on a pet cam he had set up at home to keep tabs on his young dog Buster.

The video captured Murphy smashing a household iron against the 11-month-old pup's head and body at his home in Prestwick, Ayrshire.

Sadistic Murphy, who was jailed previously for another attack on a defenceless dog, tortured Buster, showing love towards him one minute then exploding in violence.

He picked the Staffie pup up by the legs and threw him around the room, leading investigators to believe it a “miracle” he was alive.

He also gave the young animal commands and rewarded Buster with violence even when he did what he was told.

He hit Buster 70 times in one three-hour video with the iron and a bottle, cruelly pouring liquid over the petrified dog's head.

The pup was left with a broken bone, a severely swollen face and cuts, leading a horrified vet to immediately call in the Scottish SPCA, which brought the case against Murphy.
