Glasgow subs storm to win in rain

PLENTY IN RESERVE

GUTSY Glasgow's second string grabbed a valuable win as a late Connacht fightback fell just short.

Franco Smith's side held onto second place in the URC table as a shadow squad battled against the wind and rain of Storm Eowyn to see off Connacht.

Argentine winger Sebastian Cancel- liere scored two tries, scrum-half Ben Afshar got another touchdown, and stand-in captain Duncan Weir added seven points with the boot.

A Connacht try minutes from time made for a nervy finish but head coach Smith was still happy with his team.

He said: "The only thing that I'm displeased with is the last try we conceded. We worked so hard to not give it away, so that was unfortunate.

"But the weather conditions and the quality of the Connacht team must be taken into consideration if we're talking about the quality of our performance.
