Player exits as Accies bid to slash bills

THE challenge facing Hamilton's new owners to slash the club’ wage bill has been laid bare - with the former regime spending half a million pounds in the first six months of this season in League One.

Wrestling guru and Welsh football club owner Rob Edwards has taken the reins from Seref Zengin. Zengin and Accies' director of football Gerry Strain were both deemed not fit and proper by the SFA in November.

The charge was accepted by Zengin but Strain continues to fight it and intends to take it to a judicial review.

Since Edwards came in he’s sought to balance the books and help them avoid administration by offloading some of the higher-paid players.
