JAMES TAVERNIER insists he won't let Rangers bottle another title race.

- BY ANDY NEWPORT

The Ibrox club are right in amongst the leading pack chasing down Premiership glory only three months after a gory start to the season appeared to have left them out of contention.

Sunday's win over Dundee means Danny Rohl's resurgent outfit sit only four points off leaders Hearts with 15 games left.

It's a similar situation to the one Philippe Clement's Gers found themselves in two years ago - only for the Belgian gaffer's side to choke just as the finish line came into sight.

But Tavernier is adamant his team can go the distance this time.

Looking back to October when his side were sitting 13 points adrift of the Jambos, the Ibrox captain said: “It was obviously early days in the league and it's a long season.

“You've always got to back yourself no matter what, doing that by winning games.

“I said earlier in the season that we need to have that consistency.

“I believe we've started that and really shown our potential - and it just has to continue.

“We've been in this position before in January where we've been ahead and then let it slip so we can't afford [to do] that.

“It's my responsibility, and the senior lads, to keep everyone on their toes and really focus on what we need to do.”

Tavernier will lead his side to Portugal on Thursday for a Europa League dead rubber with Porto before the title race resumes with a tricky game away to Hibs.
