Ricki Lamie is awaiting SFA clearance after a tough start to the season as Hamilton couldn't register the centre-back.

Striker Callum Smith, whose deal at Raith was up, is to join him having returned from an ACL injury in October.

A sickness bug denies Lamie his debut today while Smith's paperwork was still being completed on the eve of a trip to Ayr.

Boss Crighton, whose Spiders are outside the drop playoff spot on goal difference, said: "Callum and I were at Airdrie, Ricki and I at Morton.

"I know what they're going to give to us and both have really good experience in the division.
